Driving Distances Mexico

If you have ever tried to plan a vacation before you would understand the difficulty that vacation planning includes. One of the biggest things people have a problem doing is calculating the distances each drive in Mexico will take. City to city figuring out how long it will take to get somewhere could be very hard. This quick guide will bring you through the times from some of the larger cities:

• Ciudad to Brownsville is: 1536 Km.
• Acapulco and Cancun is: 2050 Km.
• Cancun and Mexico City is: 1812 Km.
• Mexico City and Brownsville is: 1021 Km.
• Brownsville and Ixtapa is: 1801 Km.
• Ixtapa and San Miguel de Allende is: 1157 Km.
• San Miguel de Allende and Cabo San Lucas is: 4401 Km.

• Lake Chapala and San Jose del Cabo is: 4107 Km.
• Guadalajara and San Miguel de Allende is: 374 Km.
• Mexico City and Tijuana is: 2991 Km.

These are some of the bigger cities that you could be traveling to and from. If you don’t see your particular location above you can look online to see if you can find your city or town. Or, if you are staying in a more rural area, find the closest big city above and see how far away you are from it.

Outside of just knowing how far away each city is, you should know how to get there! You should be looking online to find the best maps and service routes. Many people will advise taking toll roads only because they are faster and more reliable. If you stick to driving off roads and two lane roads you never know what you’re going to run into! Many of the two lane roads are poorly kept and have pot holes throughout and have missing signs! Always make sure you have car insurance for Mexico.

If you are trying to find a great route from one city to the next, check out Yahoo! maps or Google maps because they will lay out several choices for you to pick from. Remember, if an off road route looks faster and more appealing, it really may not be that great!

Here are a few tips for your driving adventure:

• Get Mexican auto insurance! Mexican auto insurance is a must because of the type of drivers down there. The chances are actually pretty high of getting into an accident (at least higher then the States) so having the insurance gives a peace of mind!
• Don’t drive at night! Doing what you can to not drive Mexico at night is a great idea because road signs aren’t everywhere and you could easily get off track quickly.
• Take Mexican toll roads when possible! Toll roads are the best roads in Mexico and they are pretty similar to those found in the US.
